Chharia started his career with his family business of Manufacturing Packaging Materials in 1974 as CEO.

Since the very inception of Internet in India in 1998, he has been a part of the industry. He was one of the first [[ISP|Internet Service Providers]] of India. From there he started contributing to the Internet community as an Executive Council member of ISP Association of India (ISPAI). Rajesh has also managed National, Regional (SE Asia, Asia Pacific) and International events. He supervised the first [[IPv6]] tutorial in New Dehli. In the year 2007, he oversaw SANOG 10, which was a very successful training program.
