In regards to involvement on Internet Governance Issues Robert has been involved with ICANN as a general participant and a member of the At-Large Advisory Committee ([[ALAC]])<ref>[http://www.circleid.com/members/1505 CircleID.com]</ref>; he has actively served on the US IGF Steering Committee<ref>[http://www.igf-usa.us/page/steering-committee US IGF Steering Committee]</ref> since 2009, he has attended and actively participated at all the meetings of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum ([[IGF]]) as well as the two UN World Summits on the Information Society ([[WSIS]]). Robert Guerra is a civil society expert specializing in issues of internet governance, cybersecurity, multi-stakeholder participation, internet freedom, and human rights. Robert is the founder of Privaterra, a Canadian-based company that works with private industry and non-governmental organizations to assist them with issues of information security and internet governance.

Robert represents the SSAC on the 2021 NomCom and has served on the Multi-stakeholder Ethos award panel. Additionally, he has participated as a member of the official Canadian delegation at two UN World Summits on the Information Society (WSIS).

Robert has given numerous media interviews and often is invited to share his views on the challenges being faced by social justice organizations in regards to surveillance, censorship, and privacy. He has advised and/or collaborated with numerous non-profits, foundations, governments and international organizations, such as Counterpart International, American University's Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP), Citizen Lab, Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR). Robert is an Honours graduate of the University of Western Ontario and an alumnus of the Universidad de Navarra’s Faculty of Medicine.
