Russell owns Trance Host. He has been a Ubuntu member since June 2008. He has been a Techie in Chief at Compurius since March 2008. He is president at Bangladesh Linux Users Alliance since February 2002.[3]

Russell has participated in and organised a variety of programs. He organized Hardy Release Party held on May 17, 2008. He conducted a workshop on Linux for Home Users at East West University on April 8, 2007. He was the speaker on seminar, held at BCS Computer Show 2006 on Semptember 17, 2006. His other participations include:

- Workshop at North South University on June 15, 2006.
- Lead instructor of a 5-day long Teacher Professional Development (TPD) training at Central Gono Bidyalaya, Sonargoan held on March 9 to March 13, 2006.[7]
Education
Russell is a computer science engineer and also holds a certification of CCNA and CompTia Linux+. Besides computer science he is interested in photography and fine arts and holds diploma in Fine Arts and advanced Diploma in Fine Arts. He has done basic photography course from Pathshala.[8]
