RyC is the abbreviation for Registry Constituency. It comprises of the .net, .org, .name, .com, .pro, .museum, .aero, .coop and .info gTLDs. The RyC is a constituency present within the Generic Names Support Organization (GNSO).[1]

Role

The main role of the RyC is to represent the interests of all the gTLD registries that are in contract with ICANN and provide gTLD services.[1]

Mission

The RyC is a part of the mission of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) for coordinating the development of policies related to the technical functions. These technical functions are in accordance with the MoU between the United States Department of Commerce (DOC). It also seeks to gain quality feedback from the Internet Community. [1]

RyC and ICANN

The RyC had provided its input to help the staff of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers an analysis as well as recommendations for the decision points of the Board members with respects to the GNSO Council Restructuring. [2]

The RyC has also made several recommendations to ICANN regarding domain testing. The RyC had urged the ICANN Board to review the GNSO Council Draft motion in the year 2008 on the basis that it found several flaws in the motion.[2]
