Dr. Samaneh Tajalizadehkhoob is a Lead Security, Stability, and Resiliency (SSR) Specialist at ICANN and a guest researcher at Delft University of Technology.

Career History

Dr. Tajalizadehkhoob is an interdisciplinary scientist who has experience in research related to the Security and Stability of Internet infrastructure and their relation to actors who manage such services as well as the effect of policies on the security of such services. She worked as a post-doctoral and guest researcher at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands for several years where she leads a research team in collaboration with Fox-IT, a well-known security industry player in the Netherlands on issues related to online banking attacks. Prior to that, she has collaborated with other research teams as a visiting scholar. In the KU Leuven DistriNet Research Group, she worked on Internet measurements for estimating web vulnerabilities and the patching practices of hosting servers. Additionally, she worked with scholars from the security and privacy lab at the University of Innsbruck on designing abuse metrics to reliably measure the security performance of Internet identifiers.

Currently, she works at the Security, Stability, and Resiliency (SSR) group and is part of the Office of the Chief Technical Officer (OCTO) at ICANN.

ICANN and Internet Governance Participation

Dr. Tajalizadehkhoob is based in ICANN’s Europe Region and works remotely from the Netherlands. She is the Domain Abuse Activity Reporting (DAAR) system project leader and coordinates closely with other ICANN organization functions to implement ICANN’s Security, Stability, and Resiliency strategies. She researches DNS security and abuse and provides subject matter expertise to different groups on topics related to security and the human factor. She also spends time identifying research areas where ICANN can play a significant role in maintaining the future of DNS security.

She represents ICANN on matters relating to the SSR of the unique identifier system within ICANN’s remit and develops technical work, positions, and materials on the administration of those identifiers from an SSR perspective. She is has been working as a program committee member of top-5 academic security conferences and workshops such as ACM USENIX, ACM CCS, and IEEE S&P and an active participant of technical and non-technical multiple internet forums such and IGF and IETF
