On Friday, September 24, Fadi Chehadé assumed his role of ICANN President and CEO, two weeks ahead of his October 1st start date. On his first day in the position, he implemented notable hierarchical changes, including: the creation of a dedicated compliance department, headed by Maguy Serad; the hiring of Sally Costerton as Head of Stakeholder Relations and Communications, and Tarek Kamel as Head of Governmental Affairs, both of whom were in the final four for the CEO position; and Kurt Pritz leaving his position in registry/registrar and new gTLD oversight to become the Chief Strategy Officer.
