Tom Daly is the President, CTO, and Co-Founder at Dyn. He has been with Dyn since 2001. As of June 2012, he was promoted to Chief Scientist. Daly is involved with research and development for next generation DNS and mail delivery, as well as their architecture, deployment and operations.[1] He is on the Board of Advisors for Stackpop, which is a B2B marketplace that connects service providers and buyers of Internet infrastructure.[2]

Daly is an Advisor and Investor at Fastly and is also a Chairman of the Board of the Board of Directors on the New Hampshire High Technology Council. He is also a member of the Dean's Engineering Advisory Council and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.[2] He is also on the Program Committee of NANOG.[1]

History

In 1998, Daly and Dyn's CEO Jeremy Hitchcock, along with two other students, Tom Wilde and Chris Reinhardt, founded a free DNS service at their college in Worcester Polytechnic Institute. It was called DynDNS, and was birthed from a personal desire to access lab reports on their home computer from a school lab. The business began as a free service but soon grew to a donation-based model, which enabled them to make $40,000 in weeks, from users around the world.[3]

Fun Fact

Tom was a DJ in a former life.[1]
