The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the body responsible for the worldwide administration of domain names has extended its Fellowship for the 52nd International Public ICANN meeting holding in Singapore, from the 8th to 13th of February 2015 to one of Nigeria’s finest Technology evangelist Lawrence Olawale-Roberts. ,The Nigerian recipient of the 52nd ICANN Fellowship currently seats on the board of MicroBoss Technologies a wholly Nigerian company currently championing a cause to deepen the growth and wide spread adoption of Nigeria’s .ng domain at all levels.
Lawrence is at the fore of a private initiative aimed at expanding the .ng domain ecosystem of Nigeria by a million active users from the nations present capacity of less than 60,000 users. MicroBoss Technologies is currently investing massively in premium grade infrastructure that can adequately warehouse terabytes of big data and secure it with various levels of authentication and policies. This move is primarily designed to provide free enterprise class hosting services for her clients across the globe with the hope of driving down the cost of most Nigerians accessing good quality webhosting services.

Out of the 219 applications received by ICANN for its fellowship worldwide, 50 fellows from 37 countries have been selected and I am privileged at this time to be the only Nigerian selected. My desire to see the Nigerian domain (.ng) grown to over 1 million individual and corporate users over the next 2 years from its present capacity averaging 60,000units, coupled with the prospects of providing Nigerians with global domain registration and a highly efficient hosting services at next to zero cost informed my decision to seek the ICANN fellowship he concludes. -
