Mentor Ida Ng'ang'a is the former Chairman, Membership & Outreach for Kenya, for the Internet Society. She was elected in September 2016, the first woman to hold this position. She is currently Africa Code Ambassador for the ACW Program by UNESCO/SAP and Cape Town Science Centre. She is passionate about entrepreneurship and has vowed to make internet opportunities, digital learning, computer programming and mobile application development skills accessible to as many youth and women as possible. She is the Founder of Fem-Hub Africa, a centre of excellence for women’s innovations.
She is also the Founder of the Global Network of Young Women Leaders which has members in over 70 countries and the Association of Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs. She is on the UN Women Young Women's Leadership Taskforce and Youth4Gender team led by Ravi Karkara in New York, as well as Women@Facebook Roundtable. She was recognized by Mara Foundation and the United Nations on International Women's Day (Prolific Woman, 2015) for mentoring in Africa.
She is the winner of the African Leadership Top Award 'Outstanding Mentor' 2016, Internet Society African Fellow 2017, African Internet of Things Innovator 2018, amongst other recognitions.

The 2016 winner of the African Leadership Top Award 'Outstanding Mentor', Ida Ng'ang'a, champions Sustainable Development initiatives, provides technical expertise, and connects partners and funders to aid this process, for the Regional Consortium of Experts for Development (RCD Africa). FOCUS: Policy, Sustainability, Digitalization, Emerging technology, Employee development, Gender mainstreaming, Youth/women upskilling. She acts as consulting advisor to government, NGOs, civil society & private sector.
She is the founder of Fem-Hub, a centre of excellence for women in tech, women engineers & women innovators for social change. She has sat in various committees including the World Health Organization – Mobile App Development for Sexual & Reproductive Health, the National AGOA Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Trade and Women@Facebook roundtable on online harassment. She is President of the Africa Gender Taskforce that contributed in the development of a non-formal digital literacy curriculum.
She has represented Kenya and Africa in numerous regional and global conferences that include, State of the Union Consultation in Rwanda, African Union High Level Dialogue in Senegal, UN Financing for Development in Ethiopia, Tana Forum on Peace & Security in Africa on invitation by the Chair and former president of Nigeria H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, the 1st Global Forum on Youth Policies in Azerbaijan, the 2nd World Human Rights Forum in Morocco, Online Protection & Safety at the 2015 ECOSOC Forum at the UN Headquarters in New York and the 2015 Open Square Summit on Digital Education and Violence Prevention in Washington DC, USA.
She is a mentor for the Presidential Digitalent Program (www.digitalent.co.ke) , Nairobi Innovation Week (www.innovationweek.co.ke) and a partner to the International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) Digital Innovation Framework. She is also a member of African Telecommunications Union as well as ICANN and AfriNIC Governmental Advisory Committees.
She is currently working on a project that promotes, digital economy, computing skills and internet education policies and interventions for regulators and government (with the help of the private sector); as well as promoting wireless community networks as an affordable solution for internet access.
