Youth IGF Canada aims to increase awareness of internet governance issues and facilitate youth participation in global policymaking at the IGF and beyond. It missions it to ensure Canadian youth representation at every Internet governance-related space, both nationally and internationally. We collect data, write reports, and advocate for young Canadians to have access to a trustworthy and open Internet. Its vision is to provide a space and platform for the next generation of Canadian Internet leaders.
In 2019, Youth IGF Canada has also participated in policy development processes such as the Canadian Multistakeholder Process on Enhancing IoT Security, where they developed a policy report on engaging young people in IoT security initiatives.
The Youth IGF Canada was inactive since 2019. It was resurrected by Dana Cramer in 2023.
The 2024 forum was held on 27 September 2024 and welcomed 88 in person attendees throughout the day and approximately 40 distinct virtual attendees. ICANN served as a lunch sponsor. Following the forum, there was a report speaking to the details of the forum.
Currently, they are working organizing the 2025 forum and fulfilling their Audacious Goals.
