James has been an active member of the IT and Internet industries for more than 3 decades. Prior to joining Afilias in 2009, he was a private technical consultant for 12 years. Before becoming the Vice Chair of SSAC in January 2011, Galvin was a member of the committee since 2002.<ref>[[ICANN 43]] Interview</ref> From 2004-2007, he was the Internet Program Manager at [[Shinkuro Inc.|Shinkuro Inc]].
