==History==
 +
In 1989, The Technological Institute of Advanced Studies of Monterrey (ITESM), in Monterrey, Mexico established its network. In 1995, it was given the official name of Network Information Center of Mexico. In the beginning, the [[.mx]] name space was reserved only for academic domains, and therefore it had only 45 domains registered until 1992. The registration was totally stopped in 1996 and was reopened in 2009. From that point on, NIC Mexico has been working on promoting [[.mx]] in the country and has so far registered 0.5 million domain names.<ref>[http://www.ricklatona.com/2009/07/09/interview-with-nic-mexico-mxcommx-general-director-oscar-a-robles-garay/ RickLatona]</ref>
