Howard Benn is the VP of Communications Research at Samsung's R&D Institute and is active in the technical side of Internet Governance.
Career History
Benn began his career in the telecommunications sector in 1982. He went into radio-based communications in 1989 and started participating on ETSI GSM standards committees in 1993. He helped create 3GPP and chaired 3GPP RAN 4 from 1998 to 2007. Before becoming the VP of Communications Research, he was the Head of Standards and Industrial Affairs for Samsung.[1]
ICANN and Internet Governance Participation
He is a member of the Technical Experts Group and a TLG representative to the ICANN Board. He has been a board member of ETSI since 2008 and was a member of the NomCom in 2013.[2]
Education
He has a PhD from Bradford University.
