Dr. Stefania Milan is an advisor to the Italian government and one of its representatives within ICANN, its GAC, and other IT fora.[1] She is a Post-Doctoral Fellow currently residing in Canada, and working with The Citizen Lab and the Canada Center for Global Security Studies, Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto.[2][3][4] She is also a researcher, journalist, and consultant, specializing in social movements, alternative media, participation issues and media policy, emancipatory communication practices, the interplay between technologies and society, and the politics of code.[5][6] She describes herself as a Web-Sociologist.[7]
