Joash Ntenga Moitui is a development researcher and knowledge communication specialist. He has vast experience working within governance, agriculture and development sectors. He is currently part of the communication and knowledge management team at the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation in the Netherlands. Previously, he served in the economic and portfolio advisory teams within the East and Southern Africa Division at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy. His expertise includes technical skills in development communication, programme design, strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. He is the author of "The Nexus between Security Sector Reform, Human Development and Economic Growth in Kenya" and contributor of the book titled, "Advances in Geoeconomics".

ICANN and Internet Governance Participation

ICANN 59 Johannesburg, South Africa was his first ICANN Meeting.He has been involved in ICANN Wiki Swahili Translation Project in East Africa focused on creating a pool of Swahili translators and contributors through capacity building sponsored by ICANNWiki (USA), University of Dodoma (Tanzania), and Centre for Youth Empowerment and Leadership (Kenya). Joash is an active member of the Global Internet Governance Academic Network.

He has been active in the Internet Governance Space. In 2016, he was the International Development Research Centre(IDRC) / Research ICT Africa 2016 IGF Fellow, in Guadalajara, Mexico He is also an African School of Internet Governance (AfriSig Fellow) with Association of Progressive Communications (APC) in South Africa and an active member of the Kenya ICT Network (KICTANET).

He has been involved widely in social media research, particularly with the Economic Social Research Council (UK) that focused on the growing use of social media in the political landscape in Kenya and the role it plays in political violence in Kenya. He is an active member of the Internet Society of Kenya and Cameroon and has been vocal on internet shutdowns experienced in Africa at the UN Internet Governance Forum.

Moitui has several degrees, including:

Bachelor's Arts in Applied Anthropology, Moi University Kenya.

Master of Science in Governance and Regional Integration Pan Africa University, Insitute of Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences at Africa Union Commission. He currently intends to pursue his Ph.D. studies at European University Institute, School of Transnational Governance, Florence, Italy. He is a certified Project Management in Development from APMG, USA, and alumni of International Global Leadership Institute (IGLI), USA

Publications

He is a contributor to the book, 'Corporate Espionage Geopolitics and Diplomacy Issues in International Business, IGI Global (USA) and co-author of 'Social media and public policy in the developing world. A Model for Africa Integrative Perspective' published in the Consilience Journal, Columbia University, USA. He has researched extensively on political economy and global citizenship and has more than 11 publications in peer-reviewed journals and research books.

Awards

In 2014, Joash was awarded a scholarship by the African Union Commission to study a Master of Science in Governance and Regional Integration, in Cameroon.
