Ali Karimzadeh Bangi was the founder and director of ASL19, a group studying and circumventing Internet censorship,[1] and a leader in the expat Iranian digital rights community before he had to appear in court on charges of sexual assault and forcible confinement.[2] He was found not guilty of all charges by a judge in Toronto in July 2018.

Education

Ph.D. Candidate in the University of Toronto's Department of Political Science. Mr. Bangi's educational background is both in computer and political science, and he has completed his undergraduate studies in computer engineering at the University of Tehran and completed his MA at the University of Toronto in Political Science and International Relations. His current research focuses on the militarization of cyberspace.[3]
