Communautique is a Montreal-based non-profit dedicated to promoting information literacy and promoting civic participation via communication technologies. They aim for democratic cyberculture that is available for everyone, to combat socioeconomic exclusion and promote resourcefulness and self-reliance. They offer training to organizations across Quebec teaching basic internet skills as well as discussing social and business issues. Their work and research analyze how socioeconomic factors influence the appropriation of Internet Communication Technologies. They also offer web development services.[1]
It is a recognized At-Large Structure within ICANN,[2] it sees participation as a useful and democratic way of countering American hegemony on the Internet, to work on French IDNs, and create opportunities to discuss Internet issues with the entire world.[3]
