She has been working in the Internet industry since 1994. She started her career as Product Manager and Product Marketing Manager of Leased Lines and Security Products at [[UUNET]], which became acquired by [[MCI]]/Worldcom. Later she helped introcude Wireless Local Lan (WLL) Internet Access as Head of Marketing for Firstmark Communications in Germany, and served in various functions as Marketing Director and Spokesperson for software manufacturers.
In 2001, Katrin Ohlmer started her consultancy, providing advice with regards to marketing, communications, and strategy. Among others, she has worked for PSINet Europe and Deutsche Telekom as a consultant.<ref>[http://hotel-tld.de/?page_id=661 Hotel TLD.de]</ref>
