In 2009, Adam King warned the customers of auDA about a scam in which at least two companies, apparently based in China and Hong Kong, had been sending unsolicited emails to people with .au domain names, attempting to mislead them into registering their name in a number of Asian domain spaces.

In 2006, Adam King warned the customers of auDA about a scam in which Domains Australia Pty Ltd was sending letters and/or faxes to some domain name registrants offering to arrange registration of the net.au equivalent of the registrant's com.au domain name for $225.
