One and 2 character domain names are disallowed. As few as three and as many as 63 characters (not including .PH) are permitted. Some mail programs do not accept more than 26 characters in a combined TLD and second level domain name, so we therefore do not recommend more than 23 characters for the second level domain (plus ".ph" = 26). Names may not begin or end with a dash, and upper case and lower case are treated as lower case only. Besides the - character, only alphanumeric characters a-z, 0-9 are accepted. Spaces and any other characters in a name will not be accepted. Names with only numeric characters and names with spaces will not be accepted.<ref>[https://www.dot.ph/general-policies dotPH: General Policies]</ref>
A .ph domain name:

* must have at least 3 characters and not more than 63 characters;
* may not begin or end with a dash, though a dash can be used in the middle of the domain name (like jrs-express.ph)
* must be made up of alphanumeric characters (a to z, 0 to 9). There must be no spaces, punctuation marks (except dashes) and any other characters in a ph domain name.
* can't be made up of purely numbers (like 1234567.ph).<ref>[https://www.dot.ph/faqs#regFaq1 dotPH FAQs: Can my domain be made up of any of the characters on my keyboard?]</ref>
