June Okal is a legal professional passionate about the law and technology. She is co - founding organizer of Nairobi Legal Hackers. [1]
Career
She has served as team leader in several youth led organizations including the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) NextGen@ICANN program, the esteemed Google Student Ambassador Programme in Sub Saharan Africa and the world's largest youth run organization AIESEC.[2]
ICANN Involvement
June was a participant at ICANN 55 in Marrakesh, Morocco. [3] She was a member of Next Gen at ICANN. She also attended ICANN 57 in Hyedrabad, India. She served as Next Gen Ambassador.[4]
June is actively involved in Outreach and Capacity Building within the African Community. She also is a member of the ICANNwiki Swahili translation team.
Internet Governance Involvement
June is a member of the Internet Society. She is a member of ISOC Kenya Chapter, women in Tech and Youth Special Interest Groups. She is a Youth @IGF fellow for Global IGF 2016.
Education
June hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons) from University of Nairobi, Kenya.[5]
