.sydney is a proposed GeoTLD in ICANNs new gTLD program. One public applicant is a joint venture between CoCCA, Sedari, and Cloud Registry; they plan to apply for both .sydney and .melbourne. There is speculation that Australian based ARI Registry Services could also apply for these domains.[1]
