John has more than 12 years of Telecommunication experience in Broadband networks, [[WiFi]] network, and [[ISP]] network design, operation and maintenance experience as having worked for Telecom Fiji Limited.


John Chand is a Senior ISP Engineer at Telecom Fiji Limited. He is based in Suva, Fiji.
==Career History==
John has a degree in Bachelor of Engineering Technology from The University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji with also various industry-standard ICT certifications. He has been a regular speaker at the [[PacNOG]] events in the Pacific region and also the recent Pacific [[IGF]] event. He has also been in the leading role in Fiji working on setting up an [[IXP]] in Fiji with the local service providers and the Fiji Government.
 
John was a fellow at [[IETF 94]], [[APRICOT 2016]], [[ICANN5 5]], [[ICANN 57]] and [[ICANN 59]] meetings around the globe. He has been a regular speaker at these conferences sharing his experiences and providing his expert input to technical discussions.

John has also attended [[IETF 94]], [[APRICOT 2016]], [[APNIC 41]] and [[ICANN 55]] meetings. John has met technical community members on [[IPv6]] deployments, [[DNSSEC]] and [[Root Servers]]. John is currently working on [[DNSSEC]] project at Telecom Fiji. John also attends [[APNIC]] workshops and [[PACNOG]] workshops in the Pacific region. John is working on maintaining relationships with the technical community in order to bring awareness in the Pacific region.
