Karen Banks is the Strategic technology and network development manager at the Association for Progressive Communications.[1] She is the director of GreenNet, a small ISP in London, and a member of the civil society working group on the Commonwealth Action Programme for the Digital Divide.[2]

Ms. Banks has been working with the ICTs since 1990. She maintained 'GnFido' at GreenNet. She was one of the founding members of APC, then in 1993 she formed the APC Women's Networking Support Programme (APCWNSP) with the assistance of women colleagues at APC. She coordinated WNSP until 2004.
She supervised APC's Participation in the WSIS and the IGF. She was a member of the WSIS Working Group on Internet Governance.[3]
Karen was invited to the European Union’s 2005 High Level Group on Internet Governance meeting in Brussels.[4]
