AKEP is a legal, public, non-budgetary person, headed by the Steering Council, which is independent in making decisions and abides by its own adopted internal regulation. Albania Electronic and Postal Communications Authority, or AKEP, is the regulatory body in the electronic communications and postal services field, which supervises the regulatory framework provided for in the law on electronic communications and the law on postal services in Albania.[1] It is also the organization which manages the .al ccTLD. Its domains are sold through registrars, of which AKEP has five, as of 2015. By necessity and policy, all registrars which sell .al domains are Albanian companies.[2]

AKEP is a legal, public, non-budgetary person, headed by the Steering Council, which is independent in making decisions and abides by its own adopted internal regulation. The Steering Council comprises 5 members appointed by the Parliament upon the proposal of the Council of Ministers.[1]
