Cerf was the founding president of [[ISOC|Internet Society]] from 1992 to 1995. In 1999, he was appointed chairman of the board until 2001. After his chairmanship, he continued to serve the organization as member of the member of the Internet Societal Task Force and in the steering group dedicated in evaluating local, national and international internet policies to ensure that global accessibility of the internet for everyone.
