The fifth Intersessional will be held in Los Angeles, United States in February 2018 following the [[GNSO Council Strategic Planning Session]]. The [[Non-Commercial Stakeholders Group]] (NCSG) has played a critical role in the development of the meeting agenda, and representatives of the NCSG are co-chairing all of the formal sessions.

The location of Los Angeles was chosen because of budgetary reasons; the meeting is being held directly after the GNSO Council Strategic Planning Session, saving on travel costs for 22 participants, and because senior ICANN staff are based in this city. Many senior staff did not travel to the Intersessional in Iceland, resulting in feedback from participants that moving forward they would appreciate the participation of the [[ICANN CEO|CEO]].
