The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was a two phase Summit endorsed by the United Nations to address a wide range of issues related to the Information Society. The first phase of the Summit was held in Geneva in 2003, and the second in Tunis in 2005.

2015 marked the tenth anniversary of WSIS and the beginning of the WSIS +10 process, which consisted of a series of major events starting in June and Culminating with a High-Level Event in December.
