Catherine Adeya is currently a member of the ICANN Board and has worked in technology and development for over 25 years, she is an experienced leader and advocate.

Career

Dr. Catherine Adeya is a Senior Digital Transformation and Governance Specialist, she has rich experiences across academia, civil society, government, and the private sector. She also coordinated a global research team that was dedicated to achieving a web that is safe and empowering for everyone. Catherine served as the Director of Business Process Outsourcing/Information Technology Enabled Services at Kenya's Ministry of ICT, in addition to serving as founder and CEO of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority. She was also appointed to the first Board of Directors of the Kenya ICT Board in 2007.

In 2002, Catherine moved back to Africa to advocate for the use of digital technologies to expand opportunities and drive development, committed to tackling global inequality. She has been involved in research linking ICT and poverty, critical success factors for the business process outsourcing industry, and connecting with organizations like the International Development Research Centre. Being heavily involved in the Kenya ICT policy process since the beginning of the ICT networks for participatory democracy and economic growth in Kenya.

Education

Catherine received an undergraduate degree in Information Sciences from Moi University in Kenya, then went on to get a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Information and Development from Edinburgh, Scotland. Also has certifications in corporate governance, Cybersecurity Audits Training,m and Board Governance and Leadership Masterclass.
