Robert Ford is an important member of CIRA.
Current position
Robert Ford was elected to the Board of Directors of CIRA for a three-year term during the 2005 CIRA Board Election (this was announced at www.cira.ca/en/media-room/news156.html).[1] He is part of Executive Committee.
About CIRA
CIRA is the acronym for Canadian Internet Registration Authority which is being governed by 15 member of the Board of Directors. From these 15 members, only 12 have a voting decision while the President, CEO and another member are ex-officio Board members.
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is a not-for-profit organization, being responsible for the management of Canada's domain namespace "dot ca", the policies that support Canada's Internet community, and Canadian involvement in international Internet governance. www.cira.ca.[2]
The main objective of the Board of Directors or CIRA is to set policies and strategies to support the Internet community of Canada as well as users from Canada.
The members elected in the Board of Directors of CIRA are specifically chosen to represent diverse geographical areas to help CIRA achieve its mission and vision. [3]
The Board of Director contains the following sub-committees:
- Executive Committee
- Governance Committee
- Audit Committee
- Technical Oversight Committee [4]
