Pankaj Agrawala is the joint secretary of the government of India's Department of IT, Ministry of Communication and IT.[1] He manages e-infrastructure in the Department of IT and represents India in the GAC of ICANN.[2][3] Pankaj is a member of the Department of Information Technology CIC Division[4] and Governing Council of C-MET.[5]

Mr. Agrawala is on the board of telecom infrastructure companies IIT and NIXI.[6] He is also the Joint Secretary of IAS, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.[7] He is on the steering committee of International Management Institute[8] and also serves at DOEACC CENTRE, AURANGABAD in several Capacities.[9]

Career History[edit | edit source]

Mr. Agrawala has held several important positions with the Uttar Pradesh district government. He has worked in rural development for almost 12 years.

He assumed the position of the director of Ministry of Urban Development in 1991 and then he became the Director of Housing Division, Ministry of Urban Affairs and Employment, in 1994. He was a member of the Indian delegation to the Habitat II City Summit, Istanbul. After which, he worked at the Administrative Training Institute in Nainital in the Decentralised Training for Urban Development Project. He has been the president of SWYAA-INDIA.[10]

Pankaj Agrawala was the secretary to the Uttar Pradesh district government from 1998 to 2002. He has held positions in various departments including the Department of Planning; the Department of Banking and Private Capital Investments; the Department of Externally Aided Projects, where he managed five World Bank projects; the Department of IT and Electronics; and the Department of Small Scale Industries and Export Promotion.[11] [12]

He has been the Managing Director of the UPDESCO, the designated State Level Agency for the Electoral Commission. In this position he played a very important role in Software Development for the Elector Roll Management System. He also did a lot of private sector work in setting up India's first IT university.[13] He is on the board of Directors of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited.[14][15]

Mr. Agrawala is the vice chairman of GAC.[16] He represented India at the WSIS.[17]

Mr. Agarwala attends GAC and other [18] ITC meetings.[19]

He has been a panelist, chair, speaker and session moderator at various national and International meetings and workshops related to IT and Internet.[20][21][22][23][24][25]
