Served as member of the Board of Directors and of the Audit Committee (one of 2 Independent Directors). During which time, participated actively in 2 face to face Board meetings, and several virtual Board meetings and emergency meetings, 1 face to face and several virtual audit committee meetings, attended Annual General Meeting of shareholders, attended public viewing of stratellite prototype, attended American Stock Exchange Listing and Ringing of the Bell Ceremony, visited staff and team of Globetel to do some due diligence on work of the Board before joining the Board, etc. It was overall an enlightening and intense experience.

| Took the vision of Internet pioneers in Asia to have a regional ISP organisation, and made it happen. They saw the need to create a new trade organisation to lobby and inform regulators about their key issues as well as to facilitate bilateral discussions between service provider members. The organization was successfully created and launched within a 6-9 month period, within which time it attained “trusted advisor” status with many organizations such as APEC, OECD, ITU, APNIC, etc. In fact, within a month of launching, it gained attention and was covered by the Asian Wall Street Journal and CNBC. APIA continues to be a key player in Asia Pacific and today is the key organiser of APRICOT (Asia Pacific Rim Internet Conference on Operational Technologies).

Co-organised a very successful VSAT seminar with INTELSAT. Was also Singapore Telecom’s negotiator and contact person for relations with Financial Network Association (FNA), a strategic alliance of 13 telecommunications carriers around the world. As Business Manager, was also responsible for traveling to India to look for investments for SingTel as well as reviewing investment opportunities that were already on the table.

Presented an oral version of my study on the ASEAN telecommunications situation and its relationship to the GATT-URUGUAY Rounds at a seminar in Bangkok, organized by the Department of Commerce of Thailand, May 1990 and presented a paper at the UN-ESCAP meeting in Bangkok, August 1990. Also attended and presented at a UNCTAD meeting in Belgrade on the Uruguay Telecom services issue.
