More information:

.kyoto is a proposed new gTLD in ICANN's new gTLD program. It has been proposed by a Computer and IT graduate school in Kyoto, the KCG (Kyoto Computer Gakuin). They have partnered with GMO Registry for their technical back-end services, it is unclear whether the TLD will be applied for in both Japanese and English.[1]
