Erik Huizer is an involved member of the ICANN community who has substantial board experience in ICT, internet, media, digital culture, and the creative industry. Since June 2012, he has been the CTO of SURFnet, the advanced[1] Dutch education and research network, and he has also been a Professor of Internet Applications at Utrecht University since May 2005.[2][3]

He has been a member of the board with PIR since January 2007, and with SIDN, the .nl ccTLD registry from March 2006 to April 2014.[2] He is also the Chair of the Dutch IPv6 Task Force[3] and chairs the advisory council for the Dutch national cyber security center (NCSC).
