.ps is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) officially assigned to Palestine.[1] The registry is managed by the Palestinian National Internet Naming Authority (PNINA).
History[edit | edit source]
The .ps domain was first applied for in 1997, by a group of Palestinian technology professionals. This request was denied.
After a year of lobbying effort, .ps was reserved, but not granted. A UN Resolution granted full to membership to Palestine in 1999. In 2000, .ps was listed in the ISO 3166 and the .ps was assigned to the Palestinian Occupied Territories. On March 23, 2000 .ps became operational and gov.ps went live as the first domain to use the string.
PNINA was created in early 2003, with leaders from academia, private sector, ISOC, legal institutions, ISPs, telecom, government ministries.
