Sunday Folayan is an active and influential participant in the Nigerian and African ICT industry.

Career History

Sunday co-founded and is the CEO of General Data Engineering Services (SKAANET), which provides functional and affordable networks in Nigeria.[1] Through this company, Sunday was among the first innovators to bring internet connectivity to Nigeria.

Additionally, he also works as a networking consultant for Mikrotik Routers and Wireless Consulting and is actively involved in several African Internet and Network Organizations.[2]

ICANN

Mr. Folayan has served on the interim At-Large Advisory Committee when it was created by ICANN.[3] He held this position from 2003 to 2006.

AFRINIC

Sunday is currently serving a one-year term as the Chair of the AFRINIC Board. He was elected at a meeting on 22 July 2015.[4] He also served as the Director of AFRINIC from 2004 until 2010.

AfNOG

Sunday was among the early participants in the annual AfNOG workshops dating back to its inception in 2000 and has continued his participation through his work as an annual volunteer instructor.

Education

Sunday earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ilorin, in Ilorin, Nigeria.[5]

He also earned a Certificate in Geographic Information Science Systems from ESRI in Redlands, California.
