Nic.io is the registry for .io ccTLD for the British Indian Ocean Territories (consisting the Chagos Archipelago which includes Diego Garcia, Peros Banhos, etc.). It was founded in 1997 by its parent company, the Internet Computer Bureau, which provides software, routing and satellite services to domain name registries, government telecommunication authorities, and telecommunication companies worldwide.
