Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa, a South Sudanese politician was born on October 24, 1972, and he currently serves as the commissioner of Yei River County in Central Equatoria State. Kanyikwa was born on October 24.[1]
In the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity, Emmanuel Adil Anthony was the one who recommended him for the position (RTGoNU).[2] He has been praised for his work in promoting agricultural investment and the development of physical infrastructure such as roads using local resources.[3][4] Both of these endeavors have earned him praise.[5][6]
In January 2016, Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa was also appointed to the position of state government secretary general for the now-defunct Yei River State, which was during the time that David Lokonga Moses served as governor. At the very least since 2005, he has been serving in the Yei government. At the time, he was both the executive director and the acting commissioner.
Early Life
Early in his life, Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa joined the SPLA/M liberation struggle against the regime in Khartoum and participated actively in it. This conflict came to an end in 2005, when the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) was signed in the town of Naivasha, which is located in the country of Kenya.
In addition to his work in the civil service and technical offices at various levels of local government and independent institutions before being appointed County Commissioner by Presidential Decree in 2021, he had previous experience in these fields.[7]
He was raised in an unremarkable family and has a personality that is warm and approachable. He is a Christian.
Accomplishments
Aggrey is well-known for his efforts to improve the quality of farming conditions in Yei River County.[8] He has never stopped encouraging the locals to try their hands at farming so that they can provide for themselves. His efforts to restore peace to the region also can't be ignored, and for good reason. On multiple occasions, he has extended an invitation to talk to various rebel groups operating in the region.[9]
As a direct result of his efforts to expedite the establishment of a General Court Martial in Yei, several ill-disciplined soldiers from the South Sudan People's Defense Forces (SSPDF) have been incarcerated for heinous crimes such as murder and rape, and they face the possibility of being executed.[10][11][12]
Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa is eager to light up Momori Dam so that it can provide Yei with a feasible and potentially renewable source of energy. Teak plantations in Kargulu, Kajiko, and Loka, as well as Yei, Morobo, Kajokeji, and Lainya counties and roadsides, received irrigation from the Momori Dam after it was constructed in 1942. Other tree species besides teak were also watered by the dam's waters. It was during World War II and the Anya Nya I revolution that construction of the dam was halted, and as a result, it was no longer used for its intended function.[13]
