Mr. Conrad has been working in the Internet industry since 1983. From 1991 to 1998, he lived in Japan and he was the Seventh Employee at the Internet Initiative Japan. IIJ was one of the first commercial ISPs of Japan. He founded the Asia Pacific Network Information Center and served there as a Director General from 1993 to 1998.[2]

When he returned to US in 1998, he joined ISC as its Executive Director. He worked there until 2001 and then founded Nominum. He held the post of CTO at Nominum for four years. David also served as a board member of the North American regional IP address registry, ARIN, from 2000 to 2005 and as ARIN treasurer from 2004 to 2005.[3]

He has been the Vice President of IT and Research at ICANN and General Manager of IANA.[4]
