Mao Wei is chief scientist and director of CNNIC.[1] He is also serving as chairperson at knet.[2]

Work Experience

  • Mao began a position in the computer office at the Zigong branch of the People's Bank of China after graduation.[3]
  • He then moved to the Chuannan Corporation of the Sichuan Xinchao Computer Industry Group for technology development work.[4]
  • In 1996, Mao became the deputy director of the network office of the computer network information center at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.[5]
  • Mao founded the China Internet Network Information Center CNNIC in 1997.[6]
  • Mao served as a visiting scholar at the University of Maryland in 2002.[7]
  • Mao successfully sponsored the Shanghai ICANN meeting in 2002.[8]
  • Mao was elected to be a member of the Executive Council of Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) on March 3, 2007.[9]
  • Mao Wei was appointed representative of Asia - Pacific Network Information Center APNIC on December 9, 2005.[10]
