Bertrand de la Chapelle is currently a member of the Board of Directors at ICANN and a Program Director at International Diplomatic Academy. He has a long career as a French diplomat, specifically with regards to its national ICT interests, and also has experience as an entrepreneur in the private sector.

Mr. de la Chapelle has excused himself at least once from voting on issues related to ICANN's new gTLD program as per a conflict of interests policy passed in 2011.[2]
