Tijani Ben Jemaa is the Director of the Mediterranean Federation of Internet Associations (FMAI) (2007-); a member of the DotAfrica Steering Committee; the Vice Char of AFRALO (2009-); a member of ICANN's ALAC and its Executive Committee (2011-); Vice President of the Federation of African Organizations of Engineers (2005-); and the Vice-Chair of the Committee of Affirmation and Communications for the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (2003-) and Member of the Tunisian Engineers Order (1982). Mr. Jemaa also works with AfriNIC, has been attending ICANN meetings since ICANN 32 in Paris,[1][2] and has been a panelist at IGF workshops.[3]
Tijani Ben Jemaa has been an active participant in multiple WSIS meetings.[4]
Background
Previous positions include:
- Deputy Secretary General of the Tunisian Engineers Order’s Board, 1995 – 1998
- Secretary General of the Tunisian Engineers Order’s Board, 1998 – 2002
- Member of the working group (appointed by the Prime Minister) in charge of defining a new channel for continuing learning for engineers, 2001 – 2002[5]
He started working in a Tunisian TV broadcasting station as an engineer, and was promoted to deputy station manager and then station manager. He spent 15 years on secondment at ARABSAT, a pan-Arab organization of satellite communication, serving as control engineer.[6]
