Mauricia, a Social Entrepreneur from Cape Town in South Africa is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Child and Family Studies. She has a B.A Degree in Psychology, Women & Gender Studies and Language & Communication, as well as an Honours Degree in Psychology.
She serves as Secretary-General at Waumbe Youth Development and is an Innovation scholar at the National Research Foundation. As a Social Entrepreneur through Waumbe Youth Development, she has developed an educational support program that encourages innovative thinking by marrying academic excellence and digital literacy, phase one thereof is being implemented in 2017.
Mauricia is also an alum of the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s internship program. An organization dedicated to making the world a safer place for children by eradicating child abduction, sexual abuse and exploitation with specialized projects addressing child protection against cybercrime and legislation around data retention.
Recently graduated from the African School of Internet Governance and the ICANN Next Generation of internet leaders programs, Mauricia is passionate about human development in Africa, innovation and the protection of human rights online. Specifically advocating for children’s rights and the rights of youth in the developing world online in terms of the right to access for the poor and underserved and the right to safety online for children and youth.
