Manuel Fernando Lousada Soares is currently an advisor for FINEP, after working as the Director for Technology Policy and Deputy Secretary for Industrial Technology in the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade in Brazil for 13 years.[1]

Manuel Lousada Soares's Career

Prior to the activity performed in the Ministry of Development in Brazil, Manuel Lousada Soares held various positions, among which we mention:

  • Telecommunications and Electronics Engineer at Instituto Superior Técnico
  • Technician at the Brazilian National Research Studies Financing Agency- FINEP
  • Member of the Brazilian National Research Council where Mr. Soares was the main connection with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Within the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Mr. Soares occupied two important positions: Adjunct Secretary of the Industrial Technology Secretariat and the last one as the Director for Technology Policy until 2008. [2]

Manuel Lousada Soares is also a member of different boards and committees:

  • Elected President of the National Standardization Committee
  • Member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards
  • Member of the Technical Commission at Banco do Brasil Foundation
  • Advisor member for FINEP Council [3]

Manuel Lousada Soares and ICANN

As a representative of the Ministry (MDIC), Mr. Soares and ICANN intersected at various events and also as MDIC and ICANN, two institution members of the Internet Society. [4]
