Luis Pericchi is Full Professor Department of Mathematics, College of Natural Sciences, University of Puerto Rico. [1] He is also the Founder and Director of the Statistical Lab, USB (Simón Bolívar University), Vice-Director(1992-2000) of CESMa-USB (Centro de Estadistica y Software Matematico) and Founder Coordinator (1997-2000) of the Graduate Studies in Statistics at USB.

He is the Associate Editor of Revista Brasileira de Probabilidade e Estatistica, Estadistica and Bayesian Analysis. He is also a Member of the Editorial Board, Estadistica Espa~nola and in the Editorial Board, Latin American Chapter, Bernoulli Society. His previous editorial works include Associate Editor, International Statistical Review (1988 - 1991), Associate Editor, Trabajos de Estadistica (1990 - 1997), Field Editor, Acta Cientifica Venezolana (1990 - 1998). Luis Pericchi has published several articles, research papers and thesis in the fields of Mathametics and statistics.

Education

He has a B.A. Universidad Simon Bolivar Licenciado en Matematicas (1975), an M.A. from University of California, Berkeley (Statistics) (1978) and a Ph.D. from University of London, Imperial College, Department of Mathematics (Mathematical Statistics) (1981). [2]

Awards

Luis Pericchi has recieved various awards and distinctions including National Prize in Hydrology (Venezuela), Prize to the best article (Publication # 5) of the year (1987). Area of Engineering by Venezuelan Council for Scientific and Technological Research, Annual prize 1991 in the area of Mathematics among others.

Career History

  • From August 2001, He is acting as the Full Professor Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Puerto Rico.
  • From August 2001, to August 2006 he was the Director of the Department of Mathematics at University of Puerto Rico.
  • From 1993 to 2001, he acted a Professor of the Department of Mathematics at Simón Bolívar University.
  • From 1981 to 1988, he was a Assistant Professor of the Department of Mathematics at Simón Bolívar University.

He has also worked as visiting and temporary Positions in different Universities.
