Henry A. (Hal) Lubsen is the CEO of Afilias.[1] He was one of the 18 founding members of Afilias, and also a co-founder of Domain Bank, Inc., one of the Internet's first registrars.[2]

Career History

Mr. Lubsen has more than 35 years of experience in different industries. He served as an Executive Committee Member at CORE from 1998 to 2001.[3] He played a significant role in the launch of the .info TLD. He owns Altronics, Inc. and Allied Central Services, two companies in the security industry. Hal Lubsen also worked closely with ISOC during ICANN's .org redelegation process.[4]

Sunrise Controversy

During the 2001 sunrise for .info, Hal Lubsen was accused of improperly registering 93 domains with Afilias, where the applications were submitted through another one of his companies, Domain Bank. He was accused of allowing applications for domains during the sunrise period that did represent valid trademarks claimed by the applicant, thereby violating the rules established by ICANN and Afilias for the sunrise period.[5][6]

Education

He holds a B.A in Psychology from Muhlenburg College.[7]
