The Citizen Lab is an interdisciplinary laboratory based at University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs. Its focus is on advanced research and development of digital media, global security, human rights, and the ways in which they intersect. The Citizen Lab connects disciplines of political science, sociology, computer science, engineering, and graphic design into research and development that affects and monitors political power across the internet. Their research network includes the OpenNet Initiative and it was a founding partner of the Information Warfare Monitor.[1]

Their is a great deal of study and participation in the ICANN community taking place from the Academics and students within the Citizen Lab. With those associated with the Lab writing articles, holding discussions, participating in meetings, and generally following and participating in ICANN processes and larger Internet Governance issues.[2]
