Application Details[edit | edit source]

The following is excerpted from the applicant's response to question #18:

"HSBC Holdings plc, the parent company of the HSBC Group, is headquartered in London. The Group serves customers worldwide from around 7,500 offices in over 80 countries and territories in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, North and Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. With assets of US$2,556bn at 31 December 2011, HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations.

HSBC’s core values underline a commitment to connecting and communicating effectively with its wide range of customers, whilst being open to new and diverse ideas which may help strengthen the business. Dedication to outstanding customer service means HSBC continually strives for new and improved ways of ensuring the integrity of its customers’ data online; investment in a new gTLD for .HSBC provides the means to strengthen this approach through a stable and secure platform that is within the direct control of HSBC.

..

As a single entity registry, only HSBC details will be shown in the WHOIS, so no personal or confidential information of registrants will available. Nonetheless, data privacy is something which the company takes seriously. HSBC not only deals with a vast amount of sensitive personal information, but is subject to stringent regulation from financial services regulators across a number of jurisdictions."[3]
