.sas is a proposed Brand gTLD in ICANN's new gTLD program. However, there were originally two brands applying for rights to the abbreviated form of their names.
Current Applicant
- Research IP LLC - a wholly owned subsidiary of SAS Institute, a large software manufacturer based in North Carolina, USA.[1]
Private Auction
In November 2014, the two applicants resolved the contention set via a private auction that concluded with Research IP LLC winning the rights to the string.[2]
Previous Applicant
- Scandinavian Airlines System Group - the largest aviation company in Scandinavia, 2011 and its reported 2011 revenue was SEK 36.7 billion.[3]
