.mt
.mt is the ccTLD for Malta. It is managed by NIC (Malta).[1]
Rules and Restrictions edit
To register directly under .mt, the prospective registrant must be the legal entity (any natural person, or any legal person created and recognised as such under the law) that will be using the domain name. It is not necessary to be established in Malta. Also:
- by registering and/or using the domain name in any way, the registrant must not infringe intellectual property rights and other third party rights;
- the registrant must not use the domain name for any unlawful purposes.
The following domain names are not allowed to be registered at any level under this policy: mil; mt; co; myname; malta; registry; dnssec; dns; ns; whois; domain; domains. These are referred to as prohibited domain names.[2]
Second-level Domains edit
To register under a second-level domain, the prospective registrant must be the legal entity that will be using the domain name and is required to declare the right to use the Registered Label of the domain name (e.g. myname) as a Full Trade Mark or Trade or Business Name in accordance with Maltese Law.[2]
The following SLDs are available:
- .com.mt: for entities that operates on a commercial basis;
- .org.mt: for entities that operates on a non-profit basis;
- .net.mt: for providers of Internet related network services;
- .edu.mt: for education institutions recognized by Ministry of Education in Malta;
- .gov.mt: for Government of Malta entities.[3]
